Oakridge College is a small co-educational high school designed to address the challenges facing 21st century learners. The dynamic learning environment and small classes of approximately 12 to 14 learners ensure teachers are able to provide focused and individual attention.
Oakridge College provides a safe, inviting and stimulating environment, enabling learners to develop their intellectual, physical, moral, social and artistic powers, laying the platform for them to cope with and contribute to a changing world.
At Oakridge College we constantly review and modify existing structures and teaching strategies to ensure they are consistent with our visions and beliefs; keeping us relevant in a dynamic education environment.
Oakridge College also offers a special facility for teaching English to foreign learners. This program takes place parallel to the normal academic program and has proven to be very successful.
We believe the point of education is to prepare youngsters to take advantage of the opportunities the future holds – to prepare a generation who are adaptable and can find where they can best make a difference.
Oakridge College is a registered school and the matric learners write the National Senior Certificate examinations. A comprehensive range of subjects is offered in the senior secondary phase (grade 10, 11, 12) in prepararion for entry to the National Senior Certificate.
While Oakridge College doesn't offer sport and extra mural activities on campus, we encourage our learners to follow their passions in outside activities and sport. Oakridge is proud to celebrate those who have excelled in their respective fields.
Durban North is a well-established small suburb with beautiful surroundings and friendly people. It is a family-oriented area with many social and sporting activities close at hand. Situated between Durban central and Umhlanga, Durban North offers well-run amenities and a selection of excellent schools which include Northlands Primary School, Glenashley Preparatory, Virginia Preparatory School, Our Lady of Fatima Convent School, Danville Park Girls' High School, Durban North College, Northwood School, Northlands Girls' High School, and of course Oakridge College.
The area boasts spectacular views of the ocean and Durban city to the south. Along with its central and convenient location, Durban North offers a "small town" vibe.
Oakridge College has established a presence in Durban North, and a reputation for excellent education. Most of our students live in the Durban North area, but we also have a handful who travel from further afield to join the Oakridge Family.
Established in 1999 by owner/principal Daryl Franks, Oakridge College opened with a small group of students.
From the start, Oakridge College was committed to providing a fulfilling education for all learners, allowing each individual to develop their interests and strengths. Keeping classes small and focussing on academics, at Oakridge College no child is left behind.
